Our school is a government school, we don't charge any fees and hence we serve students from some of the lowest income strata of the community around the school in Nanapeth, Pune, India. The desire to provide them with excellent quality of education frequently crashes with limitations imposed due to scarcity of resources. But it's amazing to see the potential of generous giving and the enormous benefits that even the tiniest of things can bring to our school. Time and again people from all walks of society have donated their time, money, materials or services and greatly helped us. There is so much potential for more, so you can help too!

Things you can help us with

Here is a wish-list of items and services that would greatly benefit this school:
  1. More Projectors - at least one but more the better, so that we can bring e-learning to our classrooms. (we have the requisite software, the skills to deploy it all, the readiness of the school admin and staff; the ability to project a computer screen onto a large wall/sheet so everyone can see is the only stumbling block stopping us right now!)
  2. Computers and peripherals - We have a computer lab where only 10 of the 20+ computers are working; we need more - even just the most basic ones - to effectively familiarize and educate our students with computers.
  3. Headphones - for plugging into our computers: a lot of our e-learning and interactive learning content needs audio. At least a dozen headphones needed.
  4. Softbard / corkboard - one for notices near the school office; more if possible for putting in classrooms.
  5. Marker boards and boardmarker pens - Much more visible; immense health benefits to teachers who otherwise have to put up with inhaling lots of chalk dust and getting it into their clothes and hair on a daily basis. We can get flexible boardmarker sheets as an alternative to the expensie boards, but a good supply of marker pens and refill ink will be the deal-maker.
  6. Computer repairs and upgrades : Some of the computers currently in disrepair in our lab may only have a minor glitch that needs fixing, or a new monitor or something! Some may only need formatting, or a new HDD or a RAM chip. If you can cover the costs of a one-time maintenance drive, it would be great!
  7. Internet connection : Let's bridge the digital divide! There are SO MANY amazing learning things out there that require an internet connection to operate. Heard of Khan Academy or Starfall? If we can get the funding or assstance to set up LAN in our school, the internet service itself will be a cakewalk (we may even get a broadband connection done by the corporation, but getting it to all the computers is the real challenge)
  8. Better books for students : The kind that better-off schools have... they're unaffordable to our kids unless we raise funds for them.
  9. Field trips : Museums, planetarium, exhibitions, galleries, institutions like NDA, zoos, sight-seeing tours and even college / company campuses! If we can raise the funds to cover the per-head charges and the transport etc, then we have a field trip and you can join us in it!
  10. Scholarship exam registration fees for our students who should get an opportunity to fly!

Hall of Fame

Below is a list of generous donations and services rendered till now that have greatly benefited our students:
(list is presently incomplete and we're gathering data - we also want to credit the generous persons who made it all possible here)
  1. 1400+ childrens' books from all genres donated by Indian Ladies Association, Bahrain - November 2010
  2. 6 metal and glass book cases for storing the library books in a well usable manner - January-February 2010
  3. LCD projector that brought e-learning to our school and has seen amazing uses, the best one being to create the background for the shows during Pratibha 2011: our school's first-ever end-of-year showcase in a large auditorium - October 2010
  4. Funds for sports and games equipment
  5. Funds for rentals and materials in End-of-Year Showcase Pratibha 2011 (March 2011) that gave our students and parents to a full-fledged auditorium event for the first time in the history of the school
